Choose equipment for the check you are carrying out.
Safe-to-touch checks
Arctic Hayes AH12 non-contact voltage detector — for initial checks for possible AC voltage as part of your trained safe-to-touch procedure. No indication from a non-contact detector does not establish that an appliance is safe to touch or electrically dead.
Safe isolation
Spurlok fused spur lockout kit — for securing a suitable fused spur against reconnection. Lock-off equipment does not test for voltage: safe isolation also requires suitable voltage-testing equipment and a means of verifying that it works, used within a trained safe-isolation procedure.
A two-pole voltage indicator and compatible proving unit are not included with these products.
Related equipment: continuity bonds
Heavy-duty continuity bond — for maintaining electrical continuity during appropriate gas-pipework operations. It is not a voltage detector or a substitute for isolation.
We’re proud to support useful innovations created by people who understand the trade. These are products chosen for the genuine problems they solve for engineers and their customers.
Trappex
Heating-system protection developed from hands-on gas engineering experience, with practical products designed to protect systems from debris, trapped air and pressure problems.
Invented by Birmingham electrician Neo Mosudisa after he encountered a real safe-isolation problem at work. One thoughtful idea, developed to help engineers work more safely.
